About Us
The Spotted Superhero follows the journey of Malaika, a little girl with white spots on her brown skin, also known as vitiligo. In this book, Malaika begins her first day of school where she receives uncomfortable looks and questions around her appearance. Soon enough, after a visit from a 'friend,' Malaika learns that her skin gives her superpowers, ultimately teaching us that our differences are what make us special.

Meet the Author
Tasnima was raised in a vibrant, multicultural community in New York, and her Bangladeshi roots helped shape her global perspective. She went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and a Master’s degree in International Affairs from Columbia University. She currently works on environmental finance and policy.
At the age of five, Tasnima developed vitiligo and has since navigated the many complexities of living in her skin. Through learning to embrace her unique journey, she discovered strength in storytelling. Today, she hopes to inspire children everywhere through her stories, encouraging them to celebrate their differences and recognize the power of being unique.

Emma is an inquisitive soul whose passion stems from her creativity. Growing up, she’s always been engulfed in her own world, from ruling her own kingdom to designing inventions for her next spy mission. She used her creativity as momentum to study Electrical Engineering at Columbia University, while also illustrating for people who hope to imaginatively express their own passions. She believes that everyone should have an equal opportunity in expressing themselves freely, regardless of what they look like.
